Harpswell Anchor Panel Discussion - The future of fire and rescue in Harpswell
The Harpswell Anchor presents a panel discussion about the future of fire and rescue in Harpswell at 7 p.m. at the Orr's Island Library. The panel will include leaders of local fire and rescue services and contributors to the Anchor's special report, "Involuntary Response: Harpswell Fire and Rescue in Transition."

Spark’s Ark rescues, rehabilitates and relocates wild animals. The program features live animals that have actually been rescued.

The tide pool is home to a variety of species whose unique adaptations allow them to maintain stability in a world that is in a constant state of change.


Children's Program -Chewonki - Biomimicry
Nature has already invented everything we need. If there is a problem we cannot solve, we can find the answer in nature. A common example is Velcro which comes from the way burrs stick to the fur of passing animals or the leg of your pants.

Examining snakeskins, turtle shells, skeletons, and other unique reptilian artifacts. Helps to dispel some fears people may have about reptiles.

Second Annual Plant Sale
A Wide variety of vegetables, annuals and perennials will be available. Contributed plants are welcome and may be dropped off at the library.

First Thursday Program: 12 estate planning mistakes — and how to avoid them
In this entertaining and informative presentation, retired estate planning attorney Daniel Hoebeke will introduce you to ugly knickknacks, greedy in-laws, know-it-all uncles, DIY disasters and more. These true-life stories and others will illustrate common planning mistakes, leading to practical ways to develop an estate plan that works for you.

FIRST THURSDAY PROGRAM - "The Tool Box Initiative" with Tim McCreight
Harpswell resident Tim McCreight is co-founder of a nonprofit organization that collects donated tools and takes them to jewelers in West Africa. Over the last decade, Tim and his colleague Matthieu Cheminée have delivered thousands of pliers, tweezers, files and other tools to several hundred jewelers in Senegal, Niger, Togo, and other countries. Tim will describe the program, show photos and tell stories of the fascinating people they have met in this innovative, home-grown program.

First Thursday program - Winter Sowing
Anne Wilkes and Dan Hoebeke offer a hands-on demonstration of Winter Sowing, an easy, low-maintenance way of planting seeds for natural germination in the spring. If you wish to plant for yourself, bring clear or translucent jugs, e.g., milk/water jugs, vinegar jug, juice jug, or any other transparent or translucent container that will allow for at least 3” of soil on the bottom and 1-1/2” of space for seedling growth on the top. And, of course, seeds!
